Frispel has performed over the years

well over a thousand concerts and offers

into a world of sound where time and space

fades away. With roots in the Central European medieval repertoire, the ensemble weaves music that bears traces of meetings, movements and stories from another time.

Here, languid medieval ballads in Swedish folk tune meet with meandering ornamentation and pulsating Arabic rhythms.
The sound world moves between the quiet Nordic and
the expressive southern, where each tone conveys
both proximity and distance.

In this living web of sound

inferred kinship across time and space:

Nordic folk songs are reflected in

other singing traditions, free melody lines

meets rhythms that carry and drive.

Frispel creates concerts that

moves between the deeply still and the vibrating rhythmic –

a musical journey where boundaries
dissolves and the story

becomes present

and alive.
